Beowulf

This classic poem is true old English literature. Its characters are based around hero's, fearless kings and monsters. The protagonist, Beowulf, is the classic hero in the poem. Many Old English novels have the theme of hero, so this epic poem fits in with that classic theme. Furthermore, this epic poem has a strong value of loyalties that are differentiated from each other. These loyalties entail a specific political and diplomatic structure. Even more so, there is a so called "heroic code" that develop within and between the warriors culture. Below is a quote which demonstrates the heroic code that is between the warriors and other characters in the poem. "And a young prince must be prudent like that, giving freely while his father lives so that afterwards in age when fighting starts steadfast companions will stand by him and hold the line. Behaviour that's admired is the path to power among people everywhere" -Beowulf
